Glazer Family
Foundation Donates
FIVE MILLION DOLLARS for
New
“GLAZER CHILDREN’S MUSEUM”
Scheduled to Open in Downtown Tampa Fall 2009
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Owners Bryan Glazer, Darcie Glazer Kassewitz,
Edward Glazer and Shari Glazer announced the Glazer Family
Foundation has donated $5 million toward the construction of a new
children’s museum in Tampa. In recognition of their generous
donation, the new museum will be named the Glazer Children’s
Museum.
“Our family is dedicated to enriching the lives of youth in the
Tampa Bay area through a variety of programs and grants. We
understand and appreciate the importance of positively shaping the
lives of children, which is why we are proud to help finance the
construction of a new
children’s museum for families throughout West Central Florida to
enjoy,” said Bryan Glazer.
“Anyone who has visited a children’s museum throughout the country
knows how important they are to the community. The Glazer
Children’s Museum will be an amazing family destination for
everyone in the Tampa Bay area, and we are just thrilled to be a
part of it,” said Edward Glazer, Glazer Family Foundation
President.
“When my brother Bryan first approached the family about
supporting this project, I think it took all of us less than a
minute to agree because this is exactly what the Glazer Family
Foundation is all about—benefiting the youth,” said Darcie Glazer
Kassewitz.
The Glazer Children’s Museum, scheduled to open in Fall 2009, will
be located along the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa near the
new Tampa Museum of Art and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
The 50,000 sq. ft. museum will feature five classrooms,
multipurpose spaces, over 175 exhibits, a terrace and a family
resource center. The hands-on exhibits, designed for children from
birth through ten years of age, will explore science, social
studies and art while constantly promoting literacy and basic
mathematics.
The Glazer Family Foundation is dedicated to assisting charitable
and educational causes in the West Central Florida region. It aids
established not-for-profit organizations that work with youth and
families to help identify and create programs that support
positive social and
economic development within our communities. The Glazer family
established the foundation in 1999. Since that time, the Glazer
Family Foundation has given millions in programs, grants, tickets
and
merchandise to the Tampa Bay area.
