FAMILY LIFE

Quick! Name three things you’re
thankful for.

This Thursday is Thanksgiving Day, and
most of us will pause and give thanks for our blessings. But what
about the other 364 days of the year? Try this: every morning say
out loud three things you’re thankful for. I mean it. Even if
you’re having a really rough time in your life. If you think about
it, there are always things to be grateful for – your husband.
Your wife. Your children. Your health. Your faith. The roof over
your head. The dollar in your pocket. Get in the habit of giving
thanks… not just on Thanksgiving… but every day.

Fast &
Easy Holiday Glamour for Busy Moms
By Gail
Erickson
It’s that time again. Baking,
Shopping, Parties and Photos….the HOLIDAYS! Here are simple ways
to be festively glamorous with what you probably already have at
home.
-
Change
your hairstyle, change your look.
Think of the guest that will attend
the event and how they normally see you and make a change. It’s
that easy. For example:
| If
you Normally: |
Try
This: |
|
Wear a ponytail |
Wear your hair down |
|
Have curly hair |
Blow-dry your hair straight and flat iron |
|
Have straight hair |
Us
a small-barrel curling iron to create curls galore (don't
forget the hairspray!) |
|
Wear your hair down |
Put
your hair in a French twist |
-
Dress in the color palate of your
holiday decorations. Depending on the holiday choose: jewel
tones like a rich burgundy or shades of green (kelly or olive)
or blue (navy or cobalt), red, gold and silver. Casual or formal
dress in any of these colors tends to give you a holiday look.
-
Wear
shimmery pantyhose with a dress or skirt.
-
Spice up
your everyday make-up. Whenever you apply make-up you should
only have one intense focus on your face. If you make your eyes
the focal point you could: Apply your eyeliner a shade darker
and a smidgen thicker. Lightly use a shadow that contains
shimmer. Brown eyes look great with intense green or purple
hues. Blue eyes “pop” with shades of brown and a hint of yellow
gold. Show-off your brown eyes, girl with pale purples and
smokey plums. Draw us into your hazel eyes with grays and navy,
which intensifies the multi-tonal flecks. If you want to focus
on your lips you should: Take time to line your lips. It does
look better and more polished. Make sure your lipstick color
blends into the liner as the two-toned look has left the
building. Deepen your everyday lip color. Keep that neutral
brown or pale rose in the make-up drawer and use a deep burgundy
or bright red. For lip color that lasts try this:
Take 1 ply from a tissue, apply
lipstick, and lightly blot once. Repeat this process two more
times. Your lipstick will have more pigment and be more vibrant.
Use a high-shine lip-gloss for a super
sexy look. Dot the lip-gloss once on the center of your bottom lip
and blend once. Bring your gloss and re-apply throughout the
night.
-
Wear once
piece of holiday-themed jewelry. A pin, earrings or bracelet.
