Have you made your New Year’s
resolution yet? If your resolution is to lose weight, then don’t
waste any time! Start feeling good about yourself now! With proper
nutrition and exercise, you can not only lose weight, but also
reduce stress, lower your risks for heart disease, stroke and
cancer, and gain more confidence. You CAN lose the weight and keep
it off. It’s time do something for yourself so say yes to a new
YOU in the New Year! Here are some tips to help get you started:
-
Set
small goals – losing those first 5 lbs. will help motivate you
to lose more!
-
Exercise
- find some form of exercise that you enjoy. Go for a walk, take
a bike ride or join a gym where the instructors are dedicated to
helping you achieve your goals!
-
Eat a
low fat, high fiber diet.
-
Eat 5-6
small meals each day. Always start with a breakfast and eat
about every 3 hours. This will help keep you from overeating
later in the day and it will help speed up your metabolism.
-
Have
healthy snacks on hand whether you are at home or on the go. Go
through your pantry and fridge and throw out all junk food. If
it’s not there, then you can’t eat it!
-
Keep a
food journal – writing down everything that you eat will help
keep you on track.
-
Make an
effort to change bad eating habits – a lot of the time we snack
because that is what we are used to doing or because our
emotions take over. Write down your bad eating habits and then
work on changing them!
Losing weight is not always an easy
task, but it’s something that everyone CAN do! Mentally prepare
yourself for challenges and know that you have what it takes to
make these healthy lifestyle changes. Think about how these
changes will not only benefit you, but your family as well. They
deserve it and so do you! Happy 2006!
