About the Southern Pinellas Cover
The South Pinellas cover
represents three generations; Cameron N. Lusty, grandfather,
Lily E. Lusty, daughter and mother, Blake C. Lusty,
grandson. We thank Lily for sending in several pictures of
her son with some of his accomplishments. We are honored to
include this exceptional family in our Special Grandparents
issue.
At 90 years old, Cameron N. Lusty has had a distinguish
career. Cameron is an aeronautical engineer who worked
extensively with NASA, Raytheon and several military
contractors. In this time Cameron also developed the 1st
WWII surveillance plane the L2 Grasshopper, which duties
included spotting enemy troops and supply concentrations.
Cameron is now a staff member at Eckerd College for ASPEC.
Blake Lusty is going to be
entering the 11th grade at Admiral Farragut Academy. Blake
is the Drill Company Commander and actively participates in
NJROTC and numerous community service organizations. He
enjoys running and sailing. Recently Blake was nominated to
represent Florida in the National Youth Volunteer of the
Year Award in Washington, D.C by Bay Pines VA Medical
Center. Blake would like to attend the United States Naval
Academy or Harvard University. Blake says, “Without the
support and guidance of my grandfather and mother I would
not be where I am today!”
Our cover picture was taken at
Admiral Farragut Academy. We thank Commandant Robert M.
Flanagan and Nancy Behan for our tour of the school. Please
read about Admiral Farragut Academy on page 13. |
